The biggest film festival in Lituania(probably the Baltcis altogether) is around the corner – it starts on March 7th. This year is special as the festival celebrates its 30th birthday with an extra-long lineup. From March 7th to 23rd, more than 80 feature films and almost as many short films will be screened in various cities around Lithuania, but the main action will be in Vilnius.
With such a long list of movies to pick from, choosing the ones to see can be complicated. That is why I’ve put together my must-see list for the Vilnius Film Festival 2025. I’m not a movie critic or a specialist of any kind, I just enjoy good cinema from time to time. This will be only my second year attending – I have see amazing films in 2024, so I’m super expecting for this year as well.
This list of mine, won’t have any spoilers, reviews, or summaries of any of the movies. It will simply be a list with links to the movie page on the official website where you will be able to watch the trailer, read the summary, and buy the tickets if you are interested. The films are listed in a random order. After the festival ends I might publish reviews for some of the movies. Stay tuned.
Oh, by the way. Here in Lithuania, this film festival is called “Kino Pavasaris”- which translates to the “Spring of Cinema”. So if you ever visit this festival, don’t be surprised if you don’t see the international name “Vilnius Film Festival” anywhere. Nobody calls it like that here. “Kino pavasaris” is a legendary brand, and I would guess that less than 10% of the visitors even know that it is called “Vilnius Film Festival” internationally.
